Special Check-Out Arrangements
Library users with problems accessing the building may designate another individual as a proxy to check out library materials on their behalf. Users should work with the Office of Disability Services to make these arrangements.
Extended Loan Periods for Course Reserve Materials
Extended loan periods for course reserve materials may be arranged as necessary. Students should contact the Circulation Desk at (205) 348-9748 to make these arrangements. Students will be expected to honor the extended loan periods and due dates that are agreed upon.
Library users needing assistance completing the Interlibrary Loan request form (available here ) should contact the Interlibrary Loan staff at (205) 348-2366.
Hours of Service
Click here  for the libraries' hours. At certain times (evenings, weekends, and holidays), the library staff may not be able to provide all services. It is recommended that library users contact the libraries in advance at these times to determine what services are available.
University Libraries cooperates with the Office of Disability Services , the Office of Student Life , the Center for Teaching and Learning , SCADA (Students Concerned About Disability Awareness), and the University faculty and students to ensure that appropriate services are offered.
Library employees (faculty, staff, and student assistants) receive training on an ongoing basis to assist them in meeting the needs of users with disabilities. Staff awareness manuals are available in each department.
