When an emergency occurs, users with special needs should seek assistance from library staff members. In the event of an emergency, users are asked to consult the emergency evacuation maps posted throughout the buildings.
In Gorgas and Bruno Libraries, Areas of Rescue Assistance are designated at all stairwells. These areas are equipped with two-way communication devices, whereby a patron can communicate with the police and request assistance evacuating the building. Additionally, emergency response personnel will check these areas as part of standard emergency response procedures.
