Hoole Special Collections Library on Thursday, November 30, 2006. She discussed her own personal experiences at UA from 1950s through the present. Ms. Foster reflected upon her life leading up to to her short-lived enrollment at The University of Alabama as the first African-American student in 1956. She also discussed her experiences and the aftermath of those days, as well as her time at UA as a graduate student in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as thoughts on her experience and how it relates to the future leaders in higher education. This event was part of Dr. Steven Katsinas’ graduate course on the history of higher education. Students in that course and others had the unique opportunity to hear about Ms. Lucy’s experiences and thoughts firsthand.
