Education– Birmingham Southern College, B.A., 1964; University of Virginia, Ph.D., 1971. Taught at the University of South Alabama, 1968-1972; employed by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education as research associate, 1972-1973, associate director of academic affairs, 1973-1977; assistant to the chancellor of the University of Alabama System after 1977.
