BANCROFT, BETSY BARBER
Biography:
Poet. Born Birmingham. Parents– Judge William C. Barber and Frances Barber. Married– Joseph Bancroft. Children– Three. Education– Howard College (now Samford University). Served as a poet-in-residence in several school systems of the state including Fort Payne and Montgomery. Member of the National League of American Pen Women; the Women’s Committee of 100 for Birmingham; the Alabama State Poetry Society; and the Bluff Park Art Association. Received the Printing Industries of American Award of Excellence in Printing and design for Wild Honeysuckle; received the Alabama Historical Association Award of Merit.
