Education– Mobile County Training School. Played baseball, minor leagues, 1956-1960; Chicago Cubs, 1961-1974; Oakland Athletics, 1974-. National League’s Rookie of the Year, 1961; National League’s Player of the Year, 1970; Major League’s Player of the Year, 1972. Played in six All-Star games. Established National League record, most consecutive games played, 1117.
