Special attorney for U.S. Justice Department, 1935-1939; assistant to the administrator, National Youth Administration, 1939-1941; worked for New Republic as assistant editor, 1944-1946; Washington editor, 1946-1948; political editor, 1948-1951; managing editor, 1952-62.  Published articles in journals and  wrote a newspaper column.  Member, Board of Directors of the Washington Public Welfare Foundation.  Member American Political Science Association.  Died September 15, 1972.
